We have the defending National League champs on one side going against a team that has struggled to get over the hump for years now. The Dodgers and Brewers will set up for game 7 of the National League Championship Series Saturday night in Milwaukee.
The Brewers have made it to this point based on their power bats and their bullpen. Leading the way has been NL MVP candidate Christian Yelich who finished his first year as a Brewer batting .326 with 36 home runs and 110 RBI’s just falling short of the NL triple crown. Behind him are the power bats of Jesus Aguilar, Travis Shaw, Lorenzo Cain, Jonathan Schoop, Ryan Braun and Mike Moustakas. Orlando Arcia has also chipped in as the unlikely power bat as he has boasted 3 home runs this postseason.
The Brew Crew also has a strong bullpen led by names like Corey Knebel, Brandon Woodruff, Josh Hader, Corbin Burnes, Jeremy Jeffress and Joakim Soria. Names that will not stand out but are the reason why they are where they are. If they advance, they could be a very tough matchup for late game situations against the Red Sox. Something to definitely keep an eye on.
The dodgers on the other hand have all the household names you need; Clayton Kershaw, Manny Machado, Justin Turner, Kenley Jansen, Walker Buehler, Yasiel Puig, David Freese, Brian Dozier, Matt Kemp, Cody Bellinger, Joc Pederson, Max Muncy and the list goes on and on. That is a very high caliber offense and pitching staff that can strike at any time.
The Dodgers will send “The Kid” Walker Buehler out in the do-or-die game Saturday. On the year he went 8-5 with a 2.62 ERA. Buehler will be matched up against Jhoulys Chacin who has been around quite some time in the big leagues. This is a matchup that could top a lot of games from the past. It is going to be all hands on deck and be ready to expect anything as a fan. Many all-star players are going to be featured in this game but the question is, which all-star will stand up when his team and franchise needs him the most?
