Adam Vinatieri broke the all-time scoring record Sunday afternoon in a week 8 matchup against the Oakland Raiders in Oakland. His 25-yard field goal attempt at the end of the first half gave him 2,547 points. This passed Morten Andersen previous record and gave Vinatieri the new spot at the top. At the age of 45 years old, he is still kicking like a machine for the Indianapolis Colts. He has been in the league since 1996, where he played 10 seasons with the Patriots until 2005. He then left for the Colts during the 2006 season where he has been since.
Vinatieri is a class act that is always there to cheer on his teammates or teach them some of his veteran, wise leadership skills. Vinatieri is a 6-time AFC Champion and a 4-time Super Bowl Champion. Regardless of his teams skill level or record, he has continued to show heart and dedication to the NFL and should be recognized by as many NFL fans out there as possible. He is for sure one of the greats and he will be known as one of the best kickers to ever live for a long time coming.
