Kawhi Leonard, Clippers, take over free agency

Kawhi Leonard and the Los Angeles Clippers agreed to a 4- year, $142 million contract. Not only did it come with Kawhi, it also brought in F Paul George via trade from the Oklahoma City Thunder. This forms one of the best front courts in all of the NBA.

This comes just a month after Leonard led the Toronto Raptors to their first ever NBA championship. Raptors GM Masai Ujiri went public with thanking Leonard for everything he did for Toronto. The Raptors will now look to build off of standout forward Pascal Siakam with Kyle Lowry and Marc Gasol by his side.

In this trade, Oklahoma City acquired rising guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Danilo Gallinari, 3 unprotected first round picks (2022, 2024, 2026), 2 first rounders from Miami (2021 unprotected, 2023 protected 1-14), and the right to swap picks with Clippers in 2023 and 2025. That adds up to be the biggest return of draft picks any NBA team has ever received. It could get even bigger if OKC moves on from stars Russell Westbrook and Steven Adams.

In Los Angeles, they now arguably have 3 of the leagues best defenders in their starting lineup. Teaming Kawhi, George, and Pat Beverley, they easily have the best defense in the league and are now the favorites to win the NBA championship in Vegas. Teaming those three with Montrezl Harrell and Mo Harkless in the starting lineup, along with Lou Williams, Ivica Zubac, Rodney McGruder, Landry Shamet, JaMychal Green, and newly drafted Mfiondu Kabengele, this is a team to watch out for.

Paul George and Kawhi Leonard look to overpower the LA team on the other side of the locker room as we will see which LA dynasty will come out on top in a very open upcoming NBA season.
