Lorin Sawyer Represents Bahamas At Caribbean Cycling Championships

Lorin Sawyer, the lone cyclist representing the Bahamas Cycling Federation, recently participated in the Caribbean Cycling Championships in the Dominican Republic. Accompanied by coach Rowshan Jones, Sawyer finished 14th overall in the 30-kilometer time trial race, earning him eighth place in the elite men’s division.

Although he was unable to finish the six-lap road race due to a cramp, Sawyer expressed excitement about his first international event and the opportunity to represent his country. He also acknowledged that there is a long way to go before the Bahamas becomes a top competitor in cycling and hopes to improve his performance within a year or two.

Despite mixed emotions about his performance, Sawyer appreciates the positive impact cycling has had on his life and plans to work harder to participate in future competitions. Coach Jones is optimistic about Sawyer’s future in the sport and encourages him to pursue a more rigorous training program. Sawyer’s first international event was a valuable experience and he looks forward to more opportunities to compete and achieve his goals.
