Sierra Donaldson named Athlete of the Week

Sierra Donaldson of the Lee University women’s tennis team has been named Athlete of the Week in the Gulf South Conference (GSC). The Bahamas Lawn Tennis Association (BLTA) congratulated Sierra on her exceptional play during the past week.

Sierra’s remarkable performance as #5 singles player helped her team upset the No. 23 Tusculum University 4-3 on Feb 12th. She defeated Loretz 6-3, 6-3 and teamed up with Carley Sickinger to win the doubles match. The win over Tusculum was the biggest win in the program’s history, according to Patric Hynes, Lee’s coach. In their season opener on Feb 4th, Lee University defeated Tennessee Wesleyan University 4-3, with Sierra and Carley winning the No. 3 doubles match 7-6.

This is the first time Sierra has received the prestigious Athlete of the Week award in her college career, having previously won GSC Freshman of the Week in 2019.
