Bahamian Ashley Michel Leads DMACC Women’s Golf Team

Michel, a freshman, led the DMACC team with an 85 in her first round, placing fourth in the individual competition.

The Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) women’s golf team, with Bahamian Ashley Michel, is tied for third place after the first round of the Jimmie Spring Swing tournament at the Ames Golf & Country Club in Iowa. The Bears posted a 366 in their opening round, the same score as Bemidji State University (BSU), with the University of Sioux Falls (USF) leading the tournament with 336, and the University of Jamestown in second place with 359.

Michel, a freshman, led the DMACC team with an 85 in her first round, placing fourth in the individual competition. The other team members are COVID-19 freshman Krista Swenson, who posted a 91, and freshmen Taylor Balsley and Dani Nolde, who scored 95 and 102, respectively. CoFR Quinn Eslinger of Afton, Iowa, also scored 95.

DMACC CoFR Frannie Brown of Grundy Center, Iowa competed individually and shot a 126 in her first round, ranking 51st in the individual standings.

The tournament concludes today at the Ames Golf & Country Club. DMACC is a public institution committed to the educational and career training needs of its students, ensuring their lifelong success.
