The Bahamas boxing team won two gold and three silver medals at the High School/Junior Championships in Guyana, finishing second overall. The brothers Jaiden and Jailen Young won the gold medals while Andrew Curtis, Keano Cox, and Elijah Smith won silver.

However, the team felt the officiating was poor and unfair. Despite this, the team made history as the first to win medals in a national sport event. The president of the Boxing Federation of the Bahamas, Vincent Strachan, praised the coaching staff and said the team was preparing for the Sugar Bert Championships in Florida and the Caribbean Boxing Championships in Dominica later in the year.

Strachan also announced plans to take a team to the Junior Pan American Games next year.

The federation is seeking financial assistance to help boxers prepare and compete regularly, and Strachan expressed confidence in the talent search throughout the country.
