Jonquel Jones’ 2022 Season Recap

The year in basketball was challenging for Jonquel Jones. Jones played a leading role for her team and maintained an average of 13.6 points, 8.8 rebounds, and two assists per game, with a shooting percentage of 50 during the season.

After her WNBA season came to an end, Jones quickly returned to international play with BIH at the World Cup. She had already led BIH to their historic World Cup 2022 qualification and was named TISSOT MVP and a member of the All-Tournament team at the World Cup Qualifying Tournament.

Jones began her 2022 season in Europe with UMMC Ekaterinburg, where she played in 11 Euro League games and helped lead the team to an undefeated regular season record. However, due to the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, Jones had to leave the country, and many other WNBA stars are choosing to go elsewhere for their offseason.

Jones returned to the Connecticut Sun for the 2022 WNBA season and had a memorable year, receiving several accolades and leading the team in points, rebounds, and blocks per game. However, the Sun was defeated by the Las Vegas Aces in the WNBA Finals. Jones reached career milestones in points, rebounds, and blocks, becoming one of the top players in Connecticut Sun franchise history.
