Kenton Roker Wins NPCA Cycling Road Race

Kenton Roker emerged victorious in the highly-anticipated Catch Me If You Can Cycling Road Race organized by the New Providence Cycling Association (NPCA) at Clifton Pier. Roker, who hails from Grand Bahama, left the rest of the field trailing in his wake and crossed the finish line first. The second and third spots were secured by Jeff Tynes and Barron Musgrove Jr, respectively, while Felix Neely and Kevin Daley completed the top five.

Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the NPCA managed to deliver an exciting and successful season, according to NPCA President Barron ‘Turbo’ Musgrove. He credited the cycling community for their unwavering support and revealed that the organization intends to capitalize on the newfound interest in cycling by expanding its reach and offering more community and fun rides.

Looking ahead, the NPCA and the Bahamas Cycling Federation plan to shift their focus to mountain bike cycling, with the goal of promoting wider participation in the sport. Musgrove highlighted that mountain bikes are more affordable than road bikes, and racing in areas like parks and other turfs off the road could potentially attract more enthusiasts to the sport.

Overall, the Catch Me If You Can Cycling Road Race and the entire cycling season were resounding successes, showcasing the talent and commitment of the participants and the dedication of the NPCA and the wider cycling community to promoting the sport.
