The Bahamian national boxing team defied the odds at the Sugar Bert Boxing WBC Tournament in Kissimmee, Florida, by winning six medals, including two gold and four silver. The five-member team was led by veteran amateur boxer Carl Hield, who won a gold and a silver medal.

The team was coached by Jermaine Gibson and assisted by Bahamas Boxing Federation President Vincent Strachan. The team performed above expectations, with most of the junior boxers having little or no prior experience. The tournament had been cancelled for the last two years due to COVID-19.

The Bahamian team’s success is a testament to their resilience and dedication to the sport.
