Bahamian Teen Qualifies for 50th Carifta Games

Calea Jackson, a 17-year-old athlete, has qualified for the upcoming 50th Carifta games in Nassau, Bahamas. She began her track and field journey through physical education classes and now trains with Coach Corrington Maycock, who has been coaching her online since there is no throwing program at her school.

Jackson has already won several state championships in discus and shot put and has qualified for international meets. She attend the University of Miami, where she is pursuing a medical career and excel in the discus and hammer throw events. Jackson’s advice for young female athletes is to stick with the program and maintain discipline, even when times are tough. Maycock sees Jackson having an excellent collegiate career and believes the hammer throw will ultimately be her best event.
