Charlton wins women’s 60m hurdles in Boston

Bahamian athlete Pedrya Seymour Charlton won the women’s 60-meter hurdles at The Track at New Balance in Boston, Massachusetts with a season’s best of 7.87 seconds. Charlton led the race from start to finish, with American Sharika Nelvis finishing second with a time of 7.93 seconds.

Charlton fell short of her national indoor record of 7.81 seconds that she set in last year’s World Indoor Championships in Belgrade, Serbia. However, she expressed satisfaction with her performance and highlighted her strong finish. Charlton and her coach, Rolando ‘Lonnie’ Greene, identified areas for improvement before her final indoor meet in New York. She hopes to correct these deficiencies before competing outdoors and ultimately winning a medal in the World Championships. In other events, Bahamian Thomas finished second in the men’s high jump, and Gardiner placed third in the men’s 300m after a year-long injury layoff.
