The Uibo New blessing

Bahamian track and field star Shaunae Miller-Uibo and her husband, Olympian Maicel Uibo, announced on Instagram that they are expecting their first child as they celebrated their sixth wedding anniversary in Exuma. Miller-Uibo, who has won all global titles in athletics, will likely miss the World Athletics Outdoor Championships in Budapest, Hungary, in August as she prepares for motherhood. However, there is a chance she will be back on the track for the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics.

Meanwhile, fellow Bahamian athletes Devynne Charlton and Steven Gardiner were in action over the weekend. Charlton won her race at the 2023 New Balance Indoor Grand Prix in Boston with a season’s best time of 7.87 seconds in the 60m hurdles. Gardiner returned to action for the first time since June 2022 at the South Carolina Invitational, clocking 33.03 seconds in the men’s 300m.
