Bahamian Swimmer Marvin Johnson Breaks State Record in Tennesse

Bahamian swimmer Marvin Johnson set two state records in the 50 and 100 yard freestyle races at the Tennesse Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association’s High School Swimming and Division State Championships held in Knoxville, tennesse.

Johnson, who swims for the McCallie School, led his team to victory with 352 points. Johnson broke the state record in the 100 yard free, clocking 43.60 seconds, in the 50 yard free, he finished with a time of 19.87 seconds. Bahamian Caden Wells and Asher Johnson also swam for McCallie and helped the team to victory.

The McCallie School had to settle for the second in the combined scores, while Vaylor school took first place with 496 points.

All three swimmers are looking to represent The Bahamas at the upcoming 2023 CARIFTA Swimming Championships.
