University of The Bahamas Men’s Basketball Team Wins Third Straight

The University of The Bahamas men’s basketball team extended their winning streak to three games with an impressive 81-64 victory against The Zulu Media Marketing Great Whites on Saturday night in the New Providence Basketball Association action at The A.F. Adderley Gym.

Delano Armbrister was the star of the show for The Mingoes, scoring 24 points (including four three-pointers), while Gabriel Styles came off the bench to contribute 17 points and 11 rebounds. Erquantae Edgecombe chipped in with 11 points and 11 rebounds, while Theodore Grant led the team with seven assists to go with 10 rebounds.

“We came out and did what we had to do to get the win,” said Styles. “We fought hard on the boards and we got the ball out fast.” The Mingoes scored 33 fast-break points and had 17 points off turnovers.

The Great Whites had taken a nine-point lead with 3:22 to go in the first quarter, but The Mingoes bounced back to end the first quarter 27-20. They continued to dominate in the second quarter, led by Armbrister and Styles, who combined for 11 points in the first two minutes to give The Mingoes the lead they never relinquished.

“We practiced hard and we came and we wanted to play fast and move the ball well and play great defence,” said Armbrister, who had his highest point production this season. “We did all of that and picked up the win.”

The Mingoes’ next game is against The Leno Regulators on March 11 at The A.F. Adderley Gym.
