Marlon Barnes Hat-Trick Leads The Mingoes to Victory

Marlon Barnes, the captain of The University of The Bahamas men’s soccer team, stand out in his match against Future Stars FC on Sunday. Barnes scored a hat-trick, leading The Mingoes to a 3-1 victory and keeping them in second place overall with 31 points.

Barnes began his hat-trick in the first half of the game, scoring the first goal with a push-kick penalty shot.

After leading 1-0 at halftime, The Mingoes allowed an easy goal by Future Stars in the 54th minute, tying the game at 1-1. However, The Mingoes responded quickly, and Barnes scored again on a penalty kick in the 63rd minute, followed by a third goal off a pass from Morgan Wood.

Barnes was more focused on the team’s success than his personal achievement, stating, “I am just here for the team. My heart and dedication is for the team, so I am just happy for the victory.” The team’s game plan was to maintain control of the ball and capitalize on opportunities, which they executed successfully.
