It’s a great look for the Bahamas, that so many of their talented Bahamian baseball players are making their way through the Major League Baseball (MLB) farm system. Sebastian Walcott, Ian Lewis, and Ryan Reckley are all highly rated prospects on their respective teams and have shown promising skills on the field.
Lewis, who signed with the Miami Marlins in 2019, has already played for their single-A affiliate, the Jupiter Hammerheads. Due to his injury, he can only play limited number of games. He put up solid numbers with a .265 batting average and an OPS of .715. He also showcased his base running skills with 16 stolen bases.
Walcott is just 16 years old and has already signed with the Texas Rangers with a $3.2 million signing bonus. He is known for agility, skill, and athleticism as an infielder. He is yet to play a Minor League Baseball (MiLB) game for the Rangers but is eager to get started.
Reckley, who signed with the San Francisco Giants in 2022, had his first season cut short due to injury. He played 11 games and had a batting average of .194 and had shown his ability to steal bases.
These three players, along with other Bahamian players in the farm system, will be looking to take the next step in their careers and hopefully make it to the majors one day. The future looks bright for Bahamian baseball.
