Bahamian Lamar Taylor Wins Three NCAA Swimming Titles

Lamar Taylor, a 19-year-old junior at Henderson State University Red Waves, made history by winning three national titles at the 2023 National Collegiate Athletic Association Men’s & Women’s Division II Swimming & Diving Championships in Indianapolis, Indiana.

He is now the first Bahamian to win three national titles in the same championships. He won the 50-yard freestyle, 100-yard freestyle, and 100-yard events.

Taylor hopes his success will inspire younger kids to achieve greatness. Bahamas Aquatics’ president, Algernon Cargill, praised Taylor’s performance and said it showed there are no limits for swimmers who work hard and set dreams. Taylor now aims to qualify for the Paris 2024 Olympics and the World Championships later this summer.
