Xavion Johnson Dominates Judo Championships in Canada

Xavion Johnson dominated both the under-18 and open divisions at the 2023 Edmonton International Judo Championships in Canada over the weekend.

Johnson defeated his training camp teammate to clinch the under-18 title and then secured victory in the open division, facing the same opponent he met in the previous round. Out of 21 matches fought this year, Johnson lost only two. However, he acknowledges that he needs to improve on his gripping and groundwork skills.

The 16-year-old expressed his gratitude towards his mother, judo clubs, and fellow judokas for their support. Johnson aims to qualify for the Cadet World Championships this year and ultimately for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, if not the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
