Anthaya Charlton Shines with Double Victory

Anthaya Charlton, a freshman at the University of Kentucky, started her outdoor season with two victories at the Black & Gold Invite at the University of South Florida. On Friday, she broke the UK freshman outdoor long jump record with a personal best of 21-feet, 81/4-inches (6.61m). The following day, she won the women’s 100m with a lifetime best of 11.38, placing her at number seven in the NCAA rankings.

 Paige Archer from the University of Central Florida finished 10th in the women’s 100m with a time of 11.88. She came in 6th place in the women’s 200m with a time of 24.52.

Megan Moss, now in her junior year, finished fifth in the women’s 400m with a time of 54.35, just behind her teammate Karimah Davis, who ran 53.74. Moss also ran the third leg for her Kentucky team in the 4x400m relay, which won in 3:36.37, the fourth fastest time in the NCAA.

Charlton also ran the third leg for another Kentucky team in the same relay, which finished fourth in 3:44.32, placing them 12th in the rankings. In the men’s long jump, Stephan Farquharson, competing for Albany, finished seventh with a leap of 23-10 (7.26m). Farquharson also anchored Albany’s 4x100m relay team to fourth place in 40.85.
