Denika Lightbourne: A Basketball Star’s Journey

Denika Lightbourne, a talented basketball player from Tallulah Falls, has signed a letter of intent to play for the NCAA Division I Dayton University’s Lady Flames women’s basketball team, making her the first Tallulah Falls basketball player to go D-I.

During her senior year, Lightbourne set a single-season scoring record of 523 points, finished second in career points (1,494), and became one of only two players (along with Nyah Williams) to be a 1,000-point, 500-rebound member.
She was also a 1st Team All-State selection, a three-time 1st Team All-Region honouree, and finished her prep career third all-time in rebounds (634). Lightbourne attributes her growth as a player to her experience playing for Tallulah Falls, where she learned the importance of different team dynamics and work ethic.

Her teams have had considerable success, making four consecutive state playoff appearances. Denika Lightbourne has left an indelible mark on Tallulah Falls and is set to excel at the collegiate level.
