The Freedom Baptist Academy’s basketball teams have been successful in various tournaments, winning eight championship titles in total. The primary boys won four tournaments, and the junior girls won three tournaments and a school league.

The only title that got away was for the junior girls in the Gladstone McPhee/Cecil Thompson Tournament, where they finished third. The principal of the school, Vincent Major, expressed pride in the students’ athletic and academic achievements, with 15 players making the honor roll. Major’s son, head coach Ziah Major, emphasized that players must maintain at least a 2.5 average to participate in games. Students credit their success to hard work, practice, and prayer. Junior girls’ MVP Shanika Darius and junior boys’ MVP Caleb Russell both acknowledged the importance of hard work and expressed their desire to continue to work hard next year.

The former junior girls MVP, Weddalinnesi Alexis, moved up to the senior girls’ division and hopes that next year the senior girls’ team will shine in the spotlight.
