Jesse Delancy: Two-time Player of the Year

Jesse Delancy, an outside hitter for Benedict, has been named Player of the Year for the second consecutive year by the league’s head coaches and sports information directors.

Jesse Delancy had a remarkable sophomore season with the Tigers, leading both the SIAC and the NCAA in kills per set (5.57) and points per set (6.32). He also ranked second in the league for hitting percentage (.335). In addition, he finished the regular season as the fourth-ranked player in the conference for aces, with 26.

Jesse was not surprised to receive the award again and said, “Honestly, I saw it coming. “The first time, yes, but this one? Not in the slightest. That award is just recognition for all the time and work I put in. I know that I’ve improved a lot since last year, and I write my own destiny. I knew I was going to win that award again this season as soon as I received the one from last season.”

Despite his impressive statistics, Jesse claimed that he tries to focus on each single point while playing and not worry about his stats. “Then I see the stats at the end of the game and didn’t even realize that I did that well.”

Jesse’s hard work and dedication have paid off, earning him the Player of the Year award for the second time in a row.
