Clarke and Mackey Finish Collegiate Tennis Season Strong

Sydney Clarke and Elana Mackey ended their collegiate tennis regular season with wins.

Sydney Clarke and Elana Mackey ended their collegiate tennis regular season with wins. Clarke’s team, the University of Alabama at Birmingham Blazers, finished with a 9-9 overall record and a 2-2 C-USA record. They won their last game against the Middle Tennessee State University Blue Raiders 6-1, and Clarke will be preparing for the C-USA Championships on Thursday.

Mackey’s team, Mars Hill University Lions, ended their season with an 8-12 record, winning their last game against Coker University Cobras 4-3. Clarke and doubles partner Maggie White helped the Blazers win the doubles point against the Blue Raiders. Clarke also won her singles match, finishing the season with a 14-14 overall record.

Mackey and doubles partner Amanda Kadiri won their doubles match against the Cobras 6-0, but lost the doubles point. Mackey lost her singles match, finishing the season with a 13-5 record in singles and a 10-7 record in doubles with Kadiri. The Blazers will play the University of Texas at San Antonio Roadrunners in the C-USA Championships, while the Lions are out of playoff contention in the South Atlantic Conference.
