The recently held CONCACAF Beach Soccer Championship (CBSC) in Nassau, Bahamas concluded with a display of exceptional talent and sportsmanship from the participating teams. The Bahamas Football Association (BFA) takes pride in recapping the event and commending the performance of the National Team.
The CBSC, held from May 8-15th, 2023, brought together top beach soccer teams from the region for an intense competition. The National Team from the Bahamas, under the guidance of Coach Alex Jose Soares and Team Manager Julian Smith Gardiner, displayed their prowess and represented the nation with honor.
The Bahamas’ roster featured a skilled group of players, including Michael Butler, Torin Furguson, Gavin Christie, Lesly St. Fleur, Gary Joseph, Jean Francois, Kyle Williams, Wood Julmis, Jaime Thompson, Daron Beneby, Creven Ferguson, and Evelt Julmis. The team showcased their talents throughout the tournament, leaving a lasting impression on fans and opponents alike.
In addition to the national team’s performance on the sand, the BFA engaged in community outreach initiatives during the event providing a first class experience for visiting schools, including EP Roberts Primary School, Unique Christian Learning Academy, SC McPherson Junior HS, CV Bethel Senior HS, and The Leadership Academy, inspiring young students and fostering a love for beach soccer among the youth.
The CBSC offered an electrifying atmosphere with thrilling matches, enthusiastic fans, captivating dancers, and a variety of food and drink options. The sense of unity and camaraderie among the teams further enhanced the overall experience, creating a memorable tournament for all involved.
In the final stage of the tournament, USA and Mexico secured their spots in the finals, while El Salvador and The Bahamas battled for the third-place position, with El Salvador emerging victorious. The top two teams, USA and Mexico, will now move on to represent the CONCACAF region in the upcoming Beach Soccer World Cup in Dubai.
The Bahamas National Team received the fair play award, recognizing their exemplary sportsmanship and respect for the game.
