New Providence Buccaneers Dominate Bahamas Games, Securing Double Victory

The New Providence Buccaneers emerged as champions in both the men’s and women’s categories at the sixth Bahamas Games, securing a flawless victory with maximum points. In the men’s final, the Buccaneers faced the Grand Bahama (GB) Lucayans and triumphed 1-0 with a goal from Larry Noel in the second half. The team’s coach, Dion Peterson, expressed his satisfaction with the win, highlighting the unity and camaraderie within the team.

Despite a disallowed goal in the first half, the Buccaneers maintained their focus on defensive solidity and a perfect record. The Abaco Survivors finished second, while the Eleuthera Adventurers claimed the bronze. In the women’s competition, the Lady Buccaneers secured a 2-1 victory over the Lady Lucayans to clinch the title.

Coach Sam Thibaud praised the team’s blend of experienced and young players and their unstoppable performance. Individual awards went to Melina McClure (Golden Gloves), Kenyonique Thompson (Golden Boots) from the Lady Buccaneers, and Phoebe Wilson (Golden Ball) from the Lady Lucayans.
