Lesly St. Fleur and Team Bahamas Ready for Action

The Bahamas Football Association (BFA) has unveiled its 23-player senior men’s national soccer team for the upcoming CONCACAF Nations League opener against Puerto Rico on Saturday, September 9, at the Thomas A. Robinson National Stadium, scheduled for 6 p.m. Despite the unavailability of some players during this window, the team is eager and prepared for the competition.

Assistant head coach Kevin Davies expressed his satisfaction with the team’s progress in training, emphasizing the improvement of first-time players. While not revealing their game plan, Davies hinted at a different approach compared to their previous encounter with Puerto Rico in the 2021 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers, where they lost 7-0.

Lesly St. Fleur, a veteran of the team for the past decade, highlighted his role in bringing experience and knowledge to the younger players. The team acknowledged the challenges but remained focused and determined.

Missing several players from the 2022-2023 Nations League season, Davies stressed the “next man up” mentality, providing an opportunity for new talents like 17-year-old Nahum Johnson to showcase their skills.

Davies expressed confidence in the team’s fitness and highlighted their capable goal scorers, strikers, and midfielders. After the first match, recovery through stretching, ice baths, and nutrition will be crucial. Following the Puerto Rico match, the Bahamas will face Guyana in Lenora, Guyana on Wednesday, September 12.
