Native of Grand Bahama, Yolett “Coach Yo” McPhee-McCuin has ignited a remarkable transformation for the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) Rebels women’s basketball team.

Finishing the regular season with a sensational six-game winning streak, the Lady Rebels achieved a historic 12-4 record in Southeastern Conference (SEC) play, marking the most wins ever for the program.

Celebrating a significant milestone, “Coach Yo” surpassed the 100th win mark with the Lady Rebels, earning ESPN’s National Coach of the Week honors. ESPN’s Michael Voepel underscored the team’s journey under McPhee-McCuin’s leadership, emphasizing their impressive turnaround.

From a winless SEC season just four years ago, to now securing double-digit conference victories for three consecutive years, the team’s progress is undeniable. The Lady Rebels closed out the season with a stellar 22-7 record, their third consecutive 20-win season since 1989-1992.

Their dominance on the court was evident in their commanding 87-43 victory over the Arkansas Razorbacks, culminating in the largest win in school history over their opponent.

While reflecting on their recent achievements, it’s important to acknowledge the team’s challenging beginnings. Yet, under McPhee-McCuin’s guidance, they have steadily improved, culminating in a thrilling Sweet 16 appearance last season.

Now, as the third seed in the SEC tournament, the Lady Rebels are poised to continue their success. With their eyes set on a deep postseason run, the team is firing on all cylinders, showcasing their determination and resilience on the court.
